Day 1: Arrival at Ho Chi Minh City
Arriving at Tan Son Nhat International airport in Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll be met and driven to your hotel. You’ll have time to relax after your journey.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City/Vung Liem/Trung Nghia
After having breakfast, This morning you will start your tour to the heart of the Mekong Delta with the transfer to Trung Nghia, Vung Liem (approx. 180 km) with your drver and guide.
The Mekong Delta, is popularly known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, it is famous for its vast rice fields, in-numerous waterways and beautiful landscape. Over tens of different varieties of rice are grown in the region.
Upon arrival, you will meet a host and will be led to the lodge along country roads. After just a short walk you will be treated to a welcome drink and a delicious traditional lunch in the lodge's restaurant.
After a chance to rest and recuperate you will be rowed through the local canals and visit 'pop rice factory'. Here Mr. Cong (Duc) will show you the blend of traditional and modern agricultural methods that sustain the local village. After explaining how the animals are raised and showing you how they collect 'biogas' to make free and sustainable cooking food, he will reveal the secret of making 'rice pop'. This unique and nutritious foodstuff will become a gift for local children the following day.
Just a 5 minute walk from Mr. Duc's house is a historic, colorful and beautiful, Cao Dai temple. After a short visit you return Lodge to select bicycles for a cycling tour in the afternoon on quiet village roads passing by a duck farm, dragon fruit gardens, and coconut fabric factory. You will also have a chance to see a Phu Nhuan Communal Temple if interested.
The cycle continues through rice paddy and sedge fields, you will have a chance to meet locals and help them work on the fields. This is a relaxing time with plenty of chances to capture the picturesque Asian sun set scenes. Enjoy the beautiful sunset before returning to the lodge on your bicycles.
After shower and refresh, you are the chef! A traditional cooking class will show you how the locals prepare a traditional meal. A great learning experience that means you can take a little of Vietnam home with you. Dinner with a twist is served after dark.
The last activity of the day is a walk with locals using traditional torches made of dried coconut leaves to neighbor home and enjoy a "poon" lights while traditional musical performance by war veteran artist. You will spend your night in Coco Riverside Lodge.
Day 3: Phu An/Trung Nghia
After a breakfast at the lodge, you will row a boat (or bike) to visit school and walk to Chua Xu temple in where locals and visitors from other provinces come to pray. Back to the Lodge, help to cut down the water coconut leaves that used to build the walls and roof of the houses. Firstly, you watch, learn from local making it and later to complete the product by yourself. Lunch is served at lodge’s restaurant. Rest at lodge's riverside.
In the afternoon, feeding fish and fishing activity; After that, select bicycles to discover the countryside through on the quiet village roads passing fruit gardens, dragon fruits, coconut trees and continue to cycle through local ferry to the sedge field and quiet countryside before get back to the Lodge in late afternoon during the sunset time. Dinner is served at restaurant.
Day 4: Phu An/Trung Nghia/Ho Chi Minh City
After a breakfast at the lodge, you will visit local home and walk to neighbor to see how he/she makes the poon sticks that be burnt on the previous night. Then, you will be driven further to Can Tho and spend your night here.
Day 5: Can Tho/Phu Quoc Island
After an early breakfast, you will take a 30-minute boat cruise from Ninh Kieu pier to visit the spectacular Cai Rang floating market. The experience will not only provide you knowledge about the unique lifestyle in the Mekong Delta but also numerous photo opportunities with the colourful fruits, boats and friendly local people.
Your driver will then take you to the airport for a flight to Phu Quoc Island. Upon arrival in Phu Quoc Island, you will be driven to the hotel. Your night accommodation will be in Phu Quoc Island.
Day 6 to Day 11: Phu Quoc Free
The days will be free for strolling in the island, lazing on the beach. You’ll spend the night in Phu Quoc Island.
Phu Quoc is a Vietnamese island off the coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand, known for its breathe- taking white- sand beaches, most of which are along the palm-lined southwest coast. Phu Quoc is becoming well known for stunning beaches, coral gardens offshore, untouched natural environment, the easy going and relaxed atmosphere, friendly locals, and fantastic scuba diving and snorkeling.
This island paradise lays only 10o north of the equator, enjoying a tropical climate with average water temperature of 24oC (75o F) with an extensive variety of aquatic life. The best time for a dive is between October and May in the dry season, however scuba diving is still available all year.
Here divers can peruse the broad variety of colorful hard and soft corals, anemones, nudibranch and tropical fish such as damselfish and puffer fish. In some areas to the north around Turtle Island and in the coral gardens off Bai Dai, North East off Bai Thom and Rach Vem and virtually a large majority of the An Thoi Archipelago, you may enjoy the pleasure of being one of the first ever to dive the many sites.
Most dive operators are situated in Duong Dong. There is a variety of trip options, with some shops offering equipment hire. You can find half day, full day and multi day trips available and most operators include pick up and drop off to and from your hotel, refreshments, water and lunch. There are PADI courses as well as courses to improve your level of diving. Most diving takes place off boats.
Day 12: Phu Quoc/Ho Chi Minh City Departure
You’ll be free until your driver arrives to take you to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. You will arrive in Tan Son Nhat airport in a good time to connect with your international departure flight. Tour ends!
