Caves, jungles, rivers, mountains and exotic wildlife, you can find all of this in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park.
Thankfully, many of its natural attractions still lasts long due to being new to tourism.
The growth is rather slow as it used to be one of the poorest land of Vietnam.
There are quite some scars left from the war, Phong Nha – Ke Bang is all about being one with nature and going on adventures.
For this reason, you cannot find many bars, hotels or restaurants in this place. The park’s remarkable biodiversity and incredible caves makes up to it.

1. Highlights
- Phong Nha – Ke Bang was one of the places where Hollywood blockbuster ‘Kong: Skull Island’ was filmed.
- The karst landscape is filled with hundreds of caves and underground rivers.
- Son Doong, the biggest cave in the world is located here and a must visit place at least once in your lifetime.
- Its biodiversity consists of many endangered animals, birds species and reptiles.

4. Transportation
Dong Hoi, abound 50 km away, is the place with the nearest airport and train station to Phong Nha – Ke Bang.
Flying from Ho Chi Minh City is cheaper, because Vietnam Airlines is the only airline in Hanoi offering flights to Dong Hoi. On the contrary, going by train from Hanoi is more comfortable.
Son Trach, the main village of the park link regular busses with other cities running from North to South.
By bus is the cheapest option, but taking the longest time to travel. Commonly, a ticket cost around VND 250,000.
Though, it can vary depending on the company and location you depart.
5. Dining
Most of the restaurants in Phong Nha – Ke Bang sell traditional dishes such as banh mi or noodles. If you crave for some Western food, there are also a few places around. In the afternoon, the locals set up their vendors selling street food where you can get grilled pork or chicken meat.
6. Getting around
Renting a motorbike is the best option to explore the park. There are also local motorbike taxis available who can drive around while you admire the scene
