Hoi An cuisine is famous for dishes that are quite simple but meticulous in process and delicious in taste, which has an unique and characteristic flavor of Quang Nam province.
This may be the reason why visitors always keep Hoi An cuisine in mind as the way to remember to this ancient town. Some popular dishes are listed below.
Chicken rice
This dish is not exclusive to Hoi An yet locals have successfully improved on it with all the meticulousness in the processing, making it one of their signature dishes.
A dish of chicken rice is mouth-watering with its pleasantly fluffy yellowed rice topped with hand-shredded chicken in combination with onion, papaya, Tra Que aromatic vegetables and a cup of special soup.
Cao Lầu
Cao Lầu does not taste like any other Vietnamese dishes, but nobody can really recognize it as being comparable to Chinese or Japanese cuisine.
This dish only has a bit of water and is eaten with char siu pork and crispy pork rind. In addition to those components, Cao Lau also adds a special sauce with herb and raw vegetables.
They blend wonderfully together and create a simple but harmonious taste, making a unique and appetizing aroma for a must-try dish in Hoi An.
Bánh mì Hội An ( Hoi An Bread)
For a long time, bread (Banh Mi) has become a must-try dish when visit to Hoi An for both Vietnamese and foreigner visitors.
It can be said that Phuong bread and Madame Khanh bread are the most famous names in Hoian. In this special bread, you will find a variety of meat, grilled, jam bong, pâté, homemade sauce, chili and fresh herbs of Tra Que village.
You will surely have a delectable bread that is hard to find anywhere else other than Hoi An. The image of a Vietnamese Banh Mi used to appear above the search of Google Doodle recently.
Hoi An Cakes
Hoi An is a convergence of traditional and affordable cakes. Come to Hoi An, you can be overwhelmed by many strange and unique deserts such as Bánh Ít, Bánh Vạc, Bánh Bèo and Bánh Xoài.
