Tam Coc is considered as the most attractive travel destination in Ninh Binh province, also well-known as “inland Halong Bay”. 

Tam Coc means literally three caves, including: Hang Ca, Hang Hai and Hang Ba. 

All of these three caves are formed by the Ngo Dong river flowing through the mountain.

It is about 90km from Hanoi to Ninh Binh city and takes bout 2 hours driving. After you arrive at Ninh Binh, just travel more 25 km to reach Tam Coc – Bich Dong, the most beautiful tourist attraction of Ninh Binh.

In fact, when you be here, the landscape here would let you think that you are contemplating a beautiful charming painting of rivers and mountains.

Tam Coc is a long-standing tourism place so the services here are quite in good discipline. 

The sampans (small boat) are numbered and carry visitors in strict sequence. Your journey of discovering Tam Coc will be started from the Dinh Cac wharf where the boatman will ferry you along the Ngo Dong river. 

What you need to do is relaxing on the sampan and lay your eyes on the long array of imposing Limestone Mountains, beautiful rice fields along the river bank, look for aquatic animals and plants under the water, or watching white flock of storks flying above the blue sky. 

Surely that’s would be great to shoot scenic photos here in such statuesque scenery.

The Ngo Dong river will let you to visit three famous caves in turn. Firstly is the Hang Ca with 127 meter in length, crossing through a huge mountain. 

Its mouth is 20 meter wide and the climate inside the cave is so cool. You can easily see the stalactites hanging down magically in various shapes. 

The next is Hang Hai, about 1 km away from the Hang Ca. This cave is 60 meter in length and also full of beautiful stalactites.  

Finally is the Hang Ba nearby Hang Hai with its ceiling is so low compared to the other two caves that it looks like a stone arch. Shooting photos in these caves would bring excellent works.

Normally, it will take you 2-3 hours to travel through all of three magnificent caves. 

The best time to travel Tam Coc is from late April to June when the rice fields is growing and turn yellow.
