Upon arrival at Siem Reap International Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in the city center. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and unwind after your flight.

Day 2: Angkor Temples at Sunrise & Sunset

Your day begins before dawn with a magical sunrise over Angkor Wat — the world’s largest religious monument and Cambodia’s architectural crown jewel. Afterward, explore Angkor Thom, home to the iconic Bayon Temple with its enigmatic stone faces, followed by the Elephant and Leper King Terraces and the towering Baphuon Temple. After a break for lunch, continue to Ta Prohm, famously entwined with giant tree roots. You’ll return to Angkor Wat in the late afternoon for a deeper look at its majestic design, before capping the day with a serene sunset at Pre Rup Temple.

Day 3: Koh Ker & Beng Mealea – Lost Temples of the Jungle

Today takes you off the beaten path to explore the remote temple of Koh Ker, once a Khmer capital, where the towering Prasat Thom pyramid rises dramatically above the jungle. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to Beng Mealea, a massive and mysterious temple engulfed by nature. With its crumbling ruins and tangled vegetation, this site offers a true “Indiana Jones” atmosphere. Return to Siem Reap in the late afternoon to relax at your hotel.

Day 4: Floating Villages & Flight to Hanoi

This morning, you’ll drive through the scenic countryside to board a boat on Tonle Sap Lake, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. Cruise past stilt houses and floating schools in Kompong Phluk village to gain insight into life on the water. After returning to Siem Reap, catch your evening flight to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, where a driver awaits to escort you to your hotel.

Day 5: Hanoi Local Life & Culture Immersion

Experience Hanoi like a true local. Begin your morning around Hoan Kiem Lake, joining residents in their daily tai chi or stretching rituals. Enjoy an authentic Pho breakfast and egg coffee while watching the city awaken. Wander through the Old Quarter’s maze of alleys and historical homes before stepping back in time at Hoa Lo Prison. After lunch, visit the Temple of Literature and sip fresh “bia hoi” (local draft beer) on a street corner, mingling with locals and sampling savory snacks like “nem chua ran.” Return to your hotel with a deepened understanding of Hanoi’s charm.

Day 6: Ninh Binh – Cuc Phuong Forest & Van Long Wetlands

Depart Hanoi for the lush countryside of Ninh Binh. Begin at Cuc Phuong National Park to explore the Endangered Primate Rescue Center, then head deep into the jungle to visit the Cave of Early Man and ancient forest trees. After lunch, continue to Van Long Nature Reserve, a peaceful wetland sanctuary. Glide through limestone landscapes on a sampan boat as you watch for birds and rare langurs in their natural habitat. End the day at a resort nestled in this tranquil setting.

Day 7: Tam Coc & Bich Dong Pagoda / Flight to Ho Chi Minh City

This morning, you’ll take a serene boat ride through Tam Coc’s stunning grottoes, where rivers weave between rice paddies and karst peaks. Continue to Bich Dong Pagoda, a serene complex nestled into a mountainside. After lunch, return to Hanoi for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in the heart of Vietnam’s southern metropolis.

Day 8: Cu Chi Tunnels & Nightlife Adventure by Vespa

In the morning, journey to Cu Chi to explore the underground maze used by Viet Cong soldiers during the war. After returning to the city, visit key landmarks including the War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, and bustling Ben Thanh Market. In the evening, your Vespa tour begins: zip through Saigon’s vibrant neighborhoods, tasting local street food, enjoying live music, and experiencing the city’s electric nightlife like a true insider.

Day 9: Mekong Delta Discovery – Cai Thia to Vinh Long

Escape the city to explore the serene Mekong Delta. Cruise the river from Cai Thia, visiting local temples, a brick factory, and homes where rice paper is still handmade. Pedal through villages dotted with fruit orchards, meet friendly locals, and sample traditional cakes and tea. Enjoy lunch on a boat while drifting past quiet canals and rice fields. In the afternoon, a rowing boat glides you into small waterways for a peaceful finale before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.

What Should You Know Before Visiting Cambodia and Vietnam?

Make sure you have the best time to tour Vietnam and Cambodia with some useful tips for your Southeast Asian journey just right below:

 Visa Essentials

Both Cambodia and Vietnam are welcoming, but here are some key considerations before you enter:

Vietnam: If you hold a passport from one of the 13 specific nations, including major partners like the UK, France, Germany, and Japan, you can visit without a visa for up to 45 days. Travellers from Southeast Asian nations typically receive shorter visa exemptions, between 14 and 30 days.

Cambodia: Most international travellers, including those from Australia, Canada, and the US, can secure a single-entry 30-day Cambodia Tourist e-Visa online or get a Visa on Arrival at major airports and land borders. If you’re travelling from an ASEAN country, including Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam, you can stay in Cambodia visa-free for up to 30 days.

Best Time to Visit Cambodia and Vietnam

The best time for Cambodia Vietnam travel is between November and April, which is the dry season in both countries. During these months, visitors can enjoy lower humidity, ample sunshine, and minimal rainfall in southern and central Vietnam, as well as across Cambodia. However, if your journey takes you to Northern Vietnam in December or January, be prepared for the cooler temperatures.

Avoid wet seasons (which run from May to October) when planning your Vietnam and Cambodia holiday. Heavy rains in Vietnam frequently disrupt outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, while in Cambodia, remote Angkor temples such as Beng Mealea or Koh Ker can be hard to reach when the dirt roads get muddy.

Food

One of the best parts of your Vietnam and Cambodia holiday is the local cuisine. From Vietnam’s Banh Mi to Cambodia’s traditional Amok Fish, each meal is a true cultural treat on your tour in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Cambodia

Kuyteav: A perfect morning ritual for Cambodians, this dish features rice noodles and toppings of your choice (beef, pork, or seafood) in a clear pork broth. This bowl is then finished with lime, herbs and chilli for depth and brightness.

Bai Sach Chrouk: This Cambodian “pork rice” is Cambodia’s quintessential breakfast dish: fragrant jasmine rice topped with thinly sliced, sweet marinated pork and beautifully balanced by fresh pickled vegetables and a savoury dipping sauce.

Amok Trey: This classic Cambodian curry features tender fish, rich coconut milk, and complex local spices. When all of these ingredients are wrapped into a banana leaf and steamed, you’ll get a unique, delicate texture and deeply fragrant flavour.

Lok Lak: The dish typically features thin slices of stir-fried beef over a fresh salad base, finished with a lively lime and Kampot pepper dipping sauce that captures the soul of Khmer cooking.

Samlor Korkor: Amok may steal the spotlight on tourist tables, but the true taste of the nation is samlor korkor. This centuries-old soup is made with seasonal vegetables and meats (typically catfish and pork belly). The savoury depth comes from prahok (fermented fish) and kroeung (curry paste).

Vietnam

Pho: On nearly every corner of Vietnam’s bustling cities, you can see locals savouring this beloved bowl of silky noodles and tender beef in fragrant broth. It’s a staple that captures the essence of Vietnamese cuisine.

Banh Mi: The French brought the vessel, but Vietnam brought the flavour. Up North, Banh Mi is a simple affair with pâté, but the South loads the baguette with a vibrant mix of cold cuts, pickled vegetables, various meats, and chilli.

Bun Bo Hue: If you’re heading to Central Vietnam, you have to taste the authentic Bun Bo Hue. This is a hearty noodle dish with thick rice vermicelli and a richly aromatic, lemongrass-infused broth.

Banh Xeo: This dish gets its fun name from the loud “sizzling sound” the rice batter makes when it’s poured into the super-hot skillet. To eat it like a local, you roll it up in lettuce leaves with some herbs before dipping them into the dipping sauce.

Com Tam: This popular street food is broken rice topped with tender pork cutlet that is barbecued over hot coals to impart a deep, smoky richness. Other popular toppings include pork skin, pickles, fried eggs, and steamed egg meatloaf.
