Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, is famed for its centuries-old architecture and vibrant cultural heritage influenced by Southeast Asian, Chinese, and French traditions. The bustling Old Quarter features narrow streets historically organized by guild, dotted with temples like Bach Ma and the vibrant Dong Xuan Market.

Day 2 (Saturday, 08th November): Hanoi Heritage & Local Life Experience

Today’s full-day exploration of Hanoi takes you through a rich blend of history, culture, and local living. Continue to Hoa Lo Prison Museum, where stories from the Vietnam War era—including John McCain’s time in captivity—add powerful context.

After lunch, visit the Vietnam People’s Army Museum, showcasing extensive exhibits on the evolution of Vietnam’s military and its proud legacy.

Next, discover traditional Vietnamese embroidery art at Hong Ngoc Fine Arts in central Hanoi. Explore hand-stitched silk artworks and even join a brief hands-on workshop if you wish.

Later, wander through the bustling Long Bien fruit and vegetable market for a raw glimpse into the city’s local trade. End the day at Dong Xuan Market, where you’ll sample seasonal fruits and a French-inspired street snack while learning about northern Vietnamese culinary traditions.

Depart Hanoi for a scenic drive to Mai Chau, a quiet valley embraced by limestone mountains and home to the White Thai ethnic community. Enjoy lunch in a traditional stilt house upon arrival.

In the afternoon, visit a local brocade weaving workshop to learn about age-old dyeing and embroidery methods. Try your hand at weaving or stitching alongside skilled artisans.

Later, explore Lac and Poom Coong villages on foot. Witness women weaving under their homes and purchase exquisite handmade textiles as souvenirs. Conclude the day with check-in at your tranquil mountain retreat.
