Discover the timeless essence of Thailand on this immersive 10-day journey. From the bustling khlongs of Bangkok to the ancient capitals of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai, the cultural charm of Chiang Mai, and peaceful Hmong hilltribe villages — experience Thailand’s greatest hits through temples, markets, natural landscapes, and authentic local encounters.

Whether it’s supporting elephant conservation, exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites, cycling through historic parks, or learning to cook Thai dishes, this journey offers a balanced blend of cultural insight, history, and relaxation.

DAY 1 · Bangkok Arrival

Sa-wat dee! Welcome to Bangkok, Thailand’s vibrant capital. Meet your guide and fellow travellers at 6:00 pm for a welcome briefing. If you arrive early, explore local markets, take a riverboat through Chinatown, or stroll along Khao San Road. This evening, get to know your group over dinner at one of the nearby restaurants.

Important: Please attend the welcome meeting as we will collect travel insurance and emergency contact details.

DAY 2 · Bangkok – Kanchanaburi

Begin your day with a peaceful boat cruise along the Chao Phraya River and its canals, offering a glimpse of local life away from the city’s busy streets. Visit the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, two of Thailand’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

In the afternoon, travel by private minivan to Kanchanaburi (approx. 2.5 hours), set along the confluence of the Khwae Yai and Khwae Noi rivers — home to the infamous Bridge on the River Kwai.

DAY 3 · Kanchanaburi & Erawan Falls

This morning, visit the beautiful Erawan Waterfalls, famous for their emerald-green pools. Spend time swimming, relaxing, or walking along the trails.

Continue to the Hellfire Pass Memorial, honouring those who perished constructing the Thai-Burma Death Railway. Then board a local train along the historic tracks, passing scenic river landscapes and crossing the original viaduct of the Bridge on the River Kwai.

In the evening, enjoy local street food and relax by the riverside.

Note: During national holidays or rainy season, alternative visits may apply if sites are closed.

DAY 4 · Ayutthaya Ancient Capital

Depart Kanchanaburi for Ayutthaya (approx. 4 hours), once the capital of Siam. Explore Ayutthaya Historical Park — home to 13th-century ruins, towering stupas, and rows of headless Buddha statues.

Don’t miss the famous Buddha head entwined in the roots of a banyan tree — one of Thailand’s most photographed symbols.

DAY 5 · Sukhothai – Train Journey

Travel today by songthaew and day train towards Phitsanuloke, then continue by minivan to Sukhothai, Thailand’s first ancient capital.

Relax after check-in at your peaceful resort, perhaps enjoying the swimming pool and gardens after a long day crossing Thailand’s countryside.

DAY 6 · Sukhothai Historical Park & Thai Cooking

Explore UNESCO-listed Sukhothai Historical Park, renowned for its classic Thai architecture and serene Buddha statues. Cycle through the park’s temples, lakes, and lotus ponds, followed by a picnic lunch under the shade of trees.

In the afternoon, visit a local home for a hands-on Thai cooking experience, learning to prepare regional dishes like spicy soups, curries, and Thai custard. Enjoy dinner together before returning to your resort.

Note: Non-cycling options (electric tuk tuk) are available on request.

DAY 7 · Hmong Hilltribe Lodge

Travel north by minivan (approx. 7 hours) through mountain scenery to reach the Hmong Hilltribe Lodge, nestled in a peaceful valley surrounded by jungle.

Tonight, enjoy a barbecue dinner under the stars, followed by a cultural performance by the Hmong people, offering insight into their traditional customs, rituals, and music. Expect cooler mountain air, so pack accordingly.

DAY 8 · Chiang Mai & Doi Suthep Temple

Depart for Chiang Mai (approx. 2.5 hours), the heart of northern Thailand known for its temples and friendly locals. Settle into your hotel and explore the old city or markets.

In the late afternoon, visit Doi Suthep Temple, perched atop a mountain. Climb the naga staircase for sweeping views of Chiang Mai as monks chant at sunset — an unforgettable experience.

DAY 9 · ChangChill Elephant Reserve & Farewell Dinner

Today’s highlight is a visit to ChangChill Elephant Reserve, where you’ll observe free-roaming elephants in their natural habitat. Learn from expert guides about sustainable conservation and enjoy lunch by the riverside alongside these gentle giants.

On the way back, stop for coffee at Kaomai Estate 1955, a beautifully restored tobacco-factory-turned-café accredited by UNESCO for its cultural value.

This evening, gather with your group for a farewell dinner to celebrate your journey.

DAY 10 · Chiang Mai Departure

After breakfast, your Thailand adventure concludes. Depart at your convenience or extend your stay — AOJ is happy to assist with extra arrangements.
