GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
Vietnam spans approximately 331,210 km² along the eastern coast of the Indochinese Peninsula. The country shares land borders with China, Laos, and Cambodia, and features a coastline stretching over 3,400 km along the East Sea. The landscape is diverse, consisting of rugged mountains (about 40% of total land area), dense forests, and two key fertile delta regions: the Red River Delta in the north and the Mekong River Delta in the south. Its highest peak, Fansipan, rises to 3,143 meters.

CLIMATE
Vietnam's climate is characterized by regional variation. Northern Vietnam experiences four distinct seasons, including a cool winter (Dec–Feb) and a hot, humid summer (May–Aug). Central Vietnam faces hot, dry conditions with typhoons occurring between September and November. Southern Vietnam has a tropical monsoon climate with two main seasons: a dry season (Dec–Apr) and a rainy season (May–Nov). Annual rainfall ranges from 1,200 to 3,000 mm.

CURRENCY
The Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency. As of 2025, the approximate exchange rate is 1 USD = 24,000 VND. US Dollars and Euros are accepted in major tourist areas. Credit cards are widely used in hotels and restaurants but may incur 2–3% transaction fees. ATMs are accessible in cities, with cash withdrawal limits varying by bank.

VISA
Vietnam offers e-visas for up to 90 days to all nationalities as of August 2023. Multiple or single-entry options are available. Travelers must hold passports valid for at least 6 months. Visa on arrival is still applicable for certain countries.

MEDICATION
No mandatory vaccinations are required for Vietnam. However, standard immunizations (such as Hepatitis A, B, and Typhoid) are recommended. Travelers should bring sufficient personal prescription medication along with a doctor’s note, as availability of some medicines may be limited outside major cities.
